Please note: This is a 7  Session Program and you will need to attend a minimum of six classes for certificate.

A program for Dads only, led by a male facilitator. The program focuses on building your confidence by offering you a chance to learn and try out effective strategies for communication, positive discipline, and role-modeling as well as fostering self-esteem. The program will help you put the limited time you do have to good use; creating positive experiences for you and your child. What better way to learn than from other dads who share their experiences of struggle and joy along the journey.

Youth Muay Thai Classes - Youth 8-14 Years

April 10th  – May 1st – (Saturdays)  11:00am – 12:00pm

Dunamis Martial Arts and Families Matter are collaborating to offer Muay Thai classes for youth ages 8-14yrs! NO COST TO YOU.

Muay Thai is a great way to engage kids in a FUN and INTERACTIVE manner to be physically active, master technique and instill life skills to ultimately develop into strong and healthy adults.

In these beginner sessions, your child will develop CONFIDENCE, COURAGE and RESPECT. Boxing gloves included!

These sessions will be held in-person at the Dunamis gym, following all government guidelines. All sanitation and physical distancing protocols will be followed.

The Gingerbread Way – Level 1

“The Gingerbread Way Program” workshops blend pedagogy and practice for those who work with young children, up to age 5, and their families. Through a variety of learning activities, such as breakout room exercises and group discussion, participants will:

  • Enrich their planning skills with a deeper understanding about rhymes, songs, and stories and how they support areas of child development.
  • Learn oral storytelling and presentation strategies to engage children during storytime and throughout the day.
  • Select rhymes, songs, and stories that appeal to children of different ages, cultural backgrounds, and abilities.
  • Become familiar with resources to grow their skill sets and reflective practices.

Cost of Program  $175 total *Program is THREE Sessions not offered individually.

Eligible child care staff may be able to access Professional Development Funding through Alberta Children’s Services.

Helping Your Child Learn to Recognize and Manage Their Stress and Emotions - 7-12 Years - (Online Class)

April 20th, 22nd, 27th, and 29th (Tuesdays & Thursdays) 6:30-8:00pm

For parents & caregivers of children ages 7 to 12.

These classes will give parents the tools & strategies to help their children learn to cope with stress and understand and better to express their feelings.

We will learn about stress from your child’s point of view as well as your own stress response and coping skills.  The 4th class is about self care to support you.

Based on “Kids Have Stress Too” and “Stress Lessons” programs by “Strong Minds, Strong Kids Psychology Canada” to nurture resilience in kids with the use of psychological science so they can manage, learn, and grow from the many challenges in life.

Peace Through Breath and Rest (Online Class)

Give yourself the gift of unwinding and relaxing this month. Fill yourself back up with nourishing breath work and deep relaxation, that will help calm your nervous system and deeply rest your mind, body, and soul. All you need is to be in a quiet and comfy space with a pillow, a blanket, and a warm cup of tea. Each session will offer one breathing technique and a guided body scan meditation, into deep rest.

This set of four, one-hour classes will be guided over Zoom with Catherine Nelson-Reid, our Peaceful Parent facilitator.
